How to Make Aquarium at Home

The word aqua means water. Another name for water is life. Water contains millions of species of animal and plant life. The word aquarium comes from this aqua. We use glass containers for keeping fish. Mainly they are called aquariums. How to make this aquarium at home, how to ready the water for living fish inside it, and how to maintain the aquarium system, I have discussed the details below.
Materials: Several materials are required to build an aquarium tank and make it suitable for fish. These materials areā€¦
Glass Sheet:

Fish keeping aquarium is mainly made of the glass sheet. This glass is available to buy in the local market. Different types of glass are available to buy in the market. low iron glass, Regular glass, and mid-grade low iron glass. Acrylic is also used in many cases. I used 4mm regular glass to make this aquarium. I bought this glass from the local market for 100 rupees per square foot. My tank is two feet long, one foot wide and one foot high. 3 sheets of (12) feet and two sheets of (11) feet are required. That means I have to buy a total of 8 square feet of glass.
Silicon Sealant:

Silicone sealant is a type of glue. This glue is used for joining glass. This silicon glue is waterproof. I used this silicon sealant to build the tank over the glass pieces. It is available to buy as a tube. Each tube costs 300 to 500 rupees. This silicon sealant is available in the local market and online.
Black Tape: After joining the glasses, it should be stuck with block tape until the sealant dries. Otherwise glasses may break. This black tape is available for purchase in local markets.
How to Make: First, I wiped the glass pieces which cut to the specified size, so that no dust or water would stick. Then I applied silicone sealant to the outer sides of the glasses and made the tank by joining the glasses. It takes 24 hours for the glue to dry properly. So I kept it for 24 hours.

Stone:

Small colored stones are arranged inside the aquarium. These increase the beauty of the tank. Seven kg of stone is required to decorate my tank. This stone is available at aquarium stores. I bought this stone at 70 rupees per kg.

Filter:

Another important part of the aquarium is the filter. There are several types of filters available for purchase. Sponge filter, power filter, consister filter, top filter, hang-on filter, etc. The filter should be selected according to the size of the aquarium. For example, if a top filter or power filter is used in a small tank, it causes problems for the fish. Because the water flow in these filters is very fast. That is why it is better to use a sponge filter in small banks. Sponge filters also suck a lot of dirt out of the water. These filters are available in different sizes. The size of the filter should be selected according to the size of the aquarium. My tank is 2 feet. A sponge filter is more suitable in this tank. But I used a power filter in this tank. I bought it from a local aquarium shop for 400 rupees.
Water:

Water is the main part of the aquarium. Not all types of water can be used in aquariums. Water needs to have certain characteristics for fish to live. Otherwise, the fish will die or will be affected by various diseases. In most places, we use water from the corporation’s tank or purchased water. Chlorine is added to this water for our convenience. But this water is very harmful to fish. If this water is to be used in the aquarium, it must be freed from chlorine with anti-chlorine. Normal tubewell or submersible pump water is chlorine free. This water can be used in aquariums. Then there will be no need to add anti-chlorine to the water. After giving water in the aquarium, some methods must be adopted to make the fish habitat suitable. After watering, the filter inside the tank should be continued, and a small amount of fish food should be given every day. Thus will have to wait 30 to 35 days. This will result in beneficial bacteria in the aquarium, which are essential for fish. Releasing the fish to the water after the bacteria has developed greatly reduces the chance of death and disease. Therefore, after 30-35 days of starting the aquarium water filtering, fish should be released there.

Plastic Plants for Aquarium:

Various aquatic plants are used to decorate the aquarium tank beautifully. However, maintaining a planted aquarium regularly requires quite a bit of time. Moreover, it costs quite a lot to maintain. Many people use plastic plants to decorate the aquarium. They look like the original plants.
Cover:

A cover must be placed over the aquarium. Otherwise, external dust or other impurities may enter the aquarium water. As a result, the water becomes dirty and the fish suffer. Fish can get sick or die if they eat something poisonous. Various sizes of lids are available for purchase at aquarium stores. My tank is two feet long and one foot wide. I bought this size lid for 200 rupees.
Caution: Some precautions should be taken in aquarium maintenance. If the food given to the fish is not completely consumed, it may decompose in the water and produce ammonia gas. Decomposing fish feces can also produce ammonia gas in the water. This ammonia gas is very harmful to fish. It can cause fish death. Ammonia cannot be generated if the filter is run regularly. That’s why you should always run a filter. Every 7 days about 50% of the water should be discarded and new water should be given. Food should be given in moderation so that it does not spoil. The filter should be cleaned regularly so that dirt does not accumulate inside it. In winter the water becomes extra cold. Which is difficult for the fish. That is why a water heater should be used in the aquarium in winter.
