Everything has a connection with the soil. Almost everything originates from the soil and ends in the soil. All the vegetables we eat are grown in the soil. Digging the ground is necessary for planting various trees. It is necessary to dig the ground to build a house or to bury a pillar in the ground. In short, we need to dig the soil for various reasons. Generally, the method we apply to dig the soil takes a lot of time and is labor intensive. Many earthmoving machines are now available for purchase. These professional soil digging machines are very expensive. These are often not possible to buy for small household chores. The price of such soil digging machines is around 12000 to 14000 rupees. I have built a soil digging machine at home. It cost about 6000 rupees to make it. And it is very convenient. It takes 3 to 4 minutes to dig a hole without a machine, this machine takes 20 seconds to dig a hole. The cost of making this machine is very low. This machine can be built for almost half the price of professional machines. In this case it can be said that professional machines are petrol powered. The machine I built is electric. The price of petrol continues to rise. That is why the maintenance cost of the electric machine is very low. The method by which I made this machine and what was required to make it, I have discussed in details below.

Motor:

I used 250 watt gear motor to make this soil digger machine. It’s 24 volts. I bought this gear motor from local market for 2500 rupees. This gear motor is also available to buy online. Online buying link given below.

Earth Auger Bit:

The earth agar bit is the most important part of this machine. It is used in digging the soil. The earth auger bit I used here is 80 cm long and 4 inches in diameter. I bought this bit online. Its price is 1300 rupees. Below is the link to buy online.

Iron Sheet:

I used iron sheet to make the box of this earth auger machine. I bought this iron seat from local market at 100 rupees per kg.

Switch:

I used the switch of the DC drill to turn the soil digger machine on and off. A push switch of higher amperage will work instead. This switch is available to buy in local market and online.

Battery:

In this Earth Auger machine I used a 24 volt lithium phosphate battery pack, which is made by lithium phosphate battery cells. The nominal voltage of each of these cells is 3.2 and the full voltage is 3.65. Its ampere is 6. Here I have made a 24 volt battery pack by connecting every 8 battery cells.The battery made in this way is 24 Ampere. As there is space on both sides of the motor, I set the battery on both sides of the motor.

Wire:

The wire used to connect the battery, motor and switch was bought from the local market.

Spray Color:

I used spray color to paint this earth auger machine. This spray color is available in local markets and online. I bought each spray for Rs.120. Online buying link given below.
Charging Socket: A charging socket is required to charge the battery of the machine. I bought this socket from local market.

How to Make:

A box is required to fit the motor and battery. To make this box, I cut iron sheet to specific size. On the side of the box where the motor will be fitted, I gapped according to the diameter of the motor. Fit the motor, battery pack in the right place. Then I fitted the switch, charging socket in the specified place. Then I connected the devices through wire. Then I firmly connected the earth auger bit to the motor. Finally, I painted the machine with spray color.

Usages Of The Machine:

This hole digger machine makes human work much easier. Reduces labor a lot and saves time too. The earth auger machine I made is very useful for digging holes in the ground. This machine can be used for making various holes in firms, nurseries and greenhouses. It can be used in banana plantations. It can also be used in other tree plantations. It is very useful in various vegetable crops. Besides, this machine is required for various soil digging work of agriculture institute, horticulture plantation, highway authority for pole placement.
